Pollex System Requirements

The Steam minimums, translated into a buy/no-buy decision.

Pollex PC System Requirements

Kooky Studios published a minimum spec for Pollex. There is no recommended spec on the listing we reviewed. There is no macOS or Linux line. There is no Steam Deck verdict. This page is the checker: if you fail a line, you should not plan to pin thumbs at 60 FPS on launch week.

Pair this with performance and the tools hub. For the game loop, return to getting started.

Official minimum (Steam)

  • OS: Windows 10
  • Processor: Core i7 (the listing writes “core i7” — treat it as a 4-core-plus Intel i7-class CPU, or a modern AMD equivalent with similar single-thread and core count)
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1070
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 4 GB available space

These numbers are from the store page, not from a wish. A GTX 1060, 8 GB of RAM, or Windows 8.1 is below the floor.

How to read each line

Windows 10. DirectX 12 titles can be picky. If you are still on Windows 10, stay current on updates. Windows 11 should be fine; it is not listed because minimums are floors, not a ban on newer OS versions.

Core i7. Unreal Engine 5 horror is often GPU-heavy but still stutters on weak CPUs when streaming textures. If you are on a dual-core i3 laptop, you are not in spec. A Ryzen 5 3600 or newer is a reasonable AMD stand-in; a Ryzen 3 1200 is not.

16 GB RAM. UE5 plus Chrome plus Discord will eat 16 GB. Close the browser when you enter the pit. 32 GB is comfort, not a requirement we invented.

GTX 1070. That is a 2016 8 GB card. It can run many UE5 titles at 1080p low-medium if the developer is careful. It will not run a path-traced showcase. If you only have integrated graphics, do not wishlist as if that were a plan. See performance for low-end tactics if you already own a 1070-class GPU.

DirectX 12. Feature-level 12_0 class hardware. Very old Fermi or Kepler cards are out even if they “feel like 1070s” in your memory.

4 GB disk. That is small for UE5, which often ships 20–60 GB. Treat 4 GB as a placeholder that may rise. Leave 20 GB free anyway so a day-one patch does not fail.

Laptop and handheld notes

The listing does not mention laptops. A “GTX 1070” laptop SKU is not the same as a desktop 1070. Power limits and thermals will hitch. Play plugged in. Steam Deck is unlisted; do not assume Proton will just work on day one.

Why specs are a finger-stake issue

A hitch in a normal FPS is a death. A hitch in Pollex is a digit. How to win assumes the frame you clicked is the frame the game simulated. If you are below spec, you are volunteering losses. That is a betting stakes problem as much as a hardware problem.

What is not listed

Internet: the copy does not require always-online. Assume you can play offline unless a later note says otherwise, but you still need Steam to install.

Controller: not in the spec table. See controls.

Ray tracing: not listed. Do not buy a card for RT because of this page.

Roadmap if the spec changes, review for whether the game is worth the hardware, wishlist if you pass the floor, official links for the store.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What GPU do I need for Pollex?

The Steam minimum is an Nvidia GTX 1070. No recommended GPU is listed yet.

Can I play Pollex on 8 GB of RAM?

No. The minimum is 16 GB.

Is Pollex on Steam Deck?

No Deck verdict is published. Treat it as a Windows 10 PC game until Valve or Kooky Studios says otherwise.

Will the 4 GB install size stay that small?

Maybe not. UE5 games often grow. Leave extra disk space for patches.
